Are you looking for a structure to develop some personal wellbeing plans around? Maybe this will help?
The Big 5
The Mindspot Clinic, Macquarie University’s online psychology clinic, has done some research into which of life’s activities seem to be most important in maintaining our wellbeing. Here’s what they came up with:
Meaningful activities:
Do things that give you a sense of accomplishment or satisfaction — they can be small things like listening to music or watching a favourite show.
Healthy thinking:
Have realistic thoughts about yourself, the world and the future. Keep things in perspective. Treat yourself with kindness and respect.
Goals and plans:
Having a goal or a plan may not only keep you motivated and energised, but it may give you something to look forward to. It may also stop you from dwelling on any problems of the past.
Healthy routines:
Establish healthy routines like going to sleep at the same time each night. A sleep routine can help set you up for the day.
Social connections:
Stay connected to your family and friends or tribe. This can help you feel validated and part of a community. And it reminds you that you belong.

The Clinic has a worksheet to help you get started in your quest to incorporate The Big 5 into your life. You can find it here.
But How?
Some of the Big 5 are easy. Most of us can think of things we can do that are meaningful to us. Most of us know we need to get enough sleep, eat well and get some exercise to be well. But how do we motivate ourselves to do these things and how do we “change our thinking” in ways that have a positive effect on our mental health?
This might be a place where a bit of professional support would be useful.
