Loneliness Awareness Week

The first week of August marks Loneliness Awareness Week, with the theme “Make Room for Connection.” This year’s campaign encourages us to create spaces where meaningful conversations and a sense of belonging can flourish. Create opportunities for connection by reaching out to a friend, hosting an event, or taking small actions like having a team lunch or waving to your neighbours. To support your clients who are experiencing loneliness, there is also a range of digital resources available to support connection, build social confidence and provide opportunities to engage with others.

  • Friendline – a free service offering a friendly conversation with a trained volunteer.
  • Beyond Blue – peer support forums and information about loneliness for adults.
  • MOST – peer support and information on social anxiety and social skills for young people (12-25yrs).

A word from WellMob

2026 NAIDOC Week Reflection from WellMob – 50 Years Deadly!

NAIDOC Week was a huge celebration for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is our favourite time of year where we can all come together, celebrate our achievements and connect with our wider communities.

The WellMob team was proud to be part of the Lismore Big Deadly Community Day, celebrating this year’s theme, “50 Years Deadly!”. After weeks of cold and rain, Mother Nature gave us a break by blessing us with a beautiful sunny day, allowing our community to come together on Bundjalung Country to celebrate culture, connect with one another, and acknowledge the strength and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our communities.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, 50 Years Deadly! we acknowledge the generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders, advocates, artists, educators, and community members whose contributions have shaped the NAIDOC movement and continue to inspire future generations.

As a way to continue the celebrations, join NAATSIHWP for the sixth annual National Day of Recognition for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners. On the 7th of August, join the virtual panel discussion at 11:30am AEST, to celebrate this year’s theme ‘Many Paths, Many Ways’.
