A Word from Workers: How Practitioners Use WellMob

Our national obsession with of digital health is increasing due to accessibility and efficacy, and this is no different in First Nations health. From smart watches that track steps and heart rate to apps for meditation or mood tracking. It seems like everyone has something they use for themselves, but have you ever thought about how these same kinds of tools could also support the people you work with?

The integration of digital mental health tools into practice is growing, but it’s important they’re used in ways that feel culturally responsive and safe when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Many mainstream resources don’t always capture the mental health and social and emotional wellbeing perspective shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. That’s where WellMob can support you as a practitioner in that all our linked resources have been vetted to ensure their credibility.

WellMob has several short video testimonials from workers from a range of different roles who talk about the way they use WellMob: with their clients, in teaching students and as a clinical educator.

Emily Wilson from Headspace National is a Senior Clinical Educator working in the Headspace Graduate program for early career clinicians. Emily talks about how she specifically uses WellMob’s Resource Sheets for workers to support their graduates’ journeys toward culturally responsive practice.
