About SMS4dads
SMS4dads is a text based support service for fathers, dads-to-be, families and health professionals. They provide support, information and tips, speaking directly to dads about their role as fathers while also checking in on their wellbeing.
SMS4dads aims to increase awareness of the influence fathers have on baby’s brain development and help fathers understand and connect with their baby in father. New and expecting fathers and sign up online to start receiving three messages a week related to the age and stage of their baby. Messages begin from as early as 12 weeks into their partners pregnancy and up to the age of one. These messages include tips, encouragement, health-related and developmental information, and messages about being mindful of their own health and ways to support their partner. Some messages ask dads about their wellbeing, and SMS4dads will connect them with a health professional if a dad isn’t doing well. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dads can sign up to the SMS4deadlydads service for a set of culturally appropriate messages and links to Aboriginal support services.
