About the HitNet Community Hub
HitNet provides information and services to hard-to-reach communities, especially Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. They focus on health promotion, young people, communities, and connection to home and culture.
The HitNet Community Hub is an online kiosk delivering culturally appropriate health and social information to Australia’s hardest-to-reach communities. The Community Hub can be accessed online, but HitNet also provides indoor community hubs, mobile max hubs, and Hitnet Wi-Fi hotspots to assist communities to connect, be informed, and engage in the digital economy.
The Indoor Community Hubs are free, built-in Wi-Fit hotspots to access regularly updated content and essential services. Delivery, installation, service, management, and monitoring is provided by HitNet upon request and can be purchased as a package.
The Mobile Max is another free, built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, designed for outdoor installation so everyone can access the hub. This evolved from community feedback and includes a charging port so individuals can recharge devices while accessing regularly updated content.
Hitnet Wi-Fi Hotspots are branded Wi-Fi portals where mobile users can access a mobile landing page and discover popular websites and apps. HitNet can supply and install data which is then customized by the community to determine what content is available, operating hours, and amount of data available to each member of the community.
