Supporting Neurodivergent People with Digital Mental Health Resources

Neurodiversity Celebration Week is an opportunity to recognise the many skills and talents of neurodivergent individuals, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual. In recent years, there has been a growing range of digital resources designed to support the wellbeing of neurodivergent people across the lifespan, and this week is the perfect time to highlight them!
The Raising Children Network offers practical, evidence-based information for parents and caregivers supporting a child with autism or ADHD. Young people aged 12-25 can explore the neurodivergence peer support topic on My Circle, and those aged 16-25 can find tailored information about autism and ADHD through ReachOut. Our featured service for the month, Autistics’ Guide to Adulthood, is a great example of co-design in action, offering an accessible and evidence-based life skills resource for autistic adults developed by autistic adults.
New Worry and Rumination Program

THIS WAY UP has launched a new Worry and Rumination Program designed for young people (18 years+) experiencing persistent, repetitive negative thinking. Based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based CBT, this brief, own-clinician-guided online program supports clients and patients to manage unhelpful thinking and targets common related symptoms such as poor sleep, difficulty concentrating, anxiety and low mood. Developed in collaboration with headspace, Griffith and UNSW, the three-module program is free to access with health professional referral and monitoring.
National Close the Gap Day 2026

Australia, as a developed nation, has one of the world’s highest life expectancy rates, but this isn’t the same for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, who face an 8-year life expectancy gap largely due to the ongoing impacts of colonisation resulting in continuing inequities in health, education and other social determinants.
Closing the Gap is the national framework designed to address this and support stronger, healthier futures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.
In 2020, governments and the Coalition of Peaks, representing more than 80 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations, co-designed a new National Agreement on Closing the Gap. It set 19 targets across the social determinants of health, and those outcomes improve when First Nations peoples lead decision-making about their own lives and communities.
Although there have been some small improvements among 11 of the 19 targets, there are only five targets that are on track. This highlights the continuing need for trauma-aware and informed practice, culturally safe and long-term collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. For our workforce, this means continuing to champion culturally led healing, respectful partnerships, and Social and Emotional Wellbeing approaches. WellMob’s resource sheets on Understanding social and emotional wellbeing, Understanding the impact of colonisation, and How to be a good ally are a good place to start.
